Recent notable DUIs in the news

A quartet of recent notable DUIs:

depardieuFrench film star Gerard Depardieu was arrested in Paris after he allegedly fell off a motorcycle.   If you have seen this movie about the French judicial system, then you know he is not in for a good time when he gets his day in court.

demarcusdobbsPerhaps Demarcus Dobbs was just trying to be more like his star teammate Aldon Smith.  So far, the only things they have in common are that they both play for the San Francisco 49ers, they are both defensive ends, and they both have been arrested for DUIs in 2012.

According to the Sacramento Bee:

Backup defensive end Demarcus Dobbs was arrested this morning after he was involved in a solo car crash in Santa Clara. The California Highway Patrol said DUI was suspected and that Dobbs, who turned 25 today, was arrested for marijuana possession. CSN Bay Area first reported Dobbs’ arrest.

Highway Patrol Officer D.J. Sarabia said the incident occurred at 3:45 a.m. on southbound San Tomas Expressway in Santa Clara, the city in which the 49ers have their practice facility and are building their new stadium. Sarabia said Dobbs was driving a 2011 Cadillac. He was not injured in the accident and no one else was in the car. Sarabia said Dobbs agreed to a chemical test, the results of which have not yet been completed.

Likewise, “porn star” Briana Banks may be trying to emulate Jenna Jameson, by getting her own 2012 DUI crash.  Briana continued to go through the drive-thru at a McDonald;s after being involved in a property damage accident.  However, a citizen called the police to complain of a possibly impaired driver, and she was arrested.  You can read more at TMZ.com

And, I know this is a repeat from just the other day, but its too good to ignore:  Detroit Redwings first round draft pick Riley Sheahan, who is charged with a “Super-DUI” after being stopped while wearing a Tinky-Winky costume, providing false information (he pretended to be his teammate!) and blowing 0.30.
