From Colorado’s 9News:
Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI Friday morning.
Denver Police say he was arrested at 1:19 a.m. in the 3400 block of Park Avenue West after reportedly going 60 mph in a 35 mph zone.
The arresting officer clocked Lawson on his radar as going 61 mph.
“Upon contact, [Lawson] stated he had consumed alcohol prior to driving,” the probable cause document says.
The arresting officer claimed Lawson’s speech was slurred, breath had a strong odor of alcohol, he was swaying and his eyes were bloodshot.
He consented to a field sobriety test, which he failed according to the officer. He refused a chemical test.
After being taken to DDC DUI Room, Lawson reportedly admitted to an officer that he had a previous DUI in Missouri.
Lawson was cited for speeding, DUI and careless driving.
Lawson posted on his Facebook profile that he was participating in Nuggets Social at Punch Bowl Social on Broadway in Denver Thursday night.
