TMZ Sports first reported on Friday night the former four-division world champion was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) about 8:45 p.m. local time in Miami Beach, Fla.
Broner was being held in a Miami-Dade County jail, where the bond was set at $1,000. It is unknown if Broner has been released as the county search record hadn’t been updated at the time of publication.
The outlet also obtained the police report, which stated officers were informed of Broner being passed out inside his Rolls-Royce SUV that had the engine running in the middle of traffic. When the cops approached the vehicle, Broner was “unconscious, but breathing”. They tried to bang on the window but ultimately had to shake it to wake him. A groggy Broner woke up, and police shifted the car into park.
A field sobriety test was conducted. Broner failed and was subsequently arrested.
This is the second time the 30-year-old Broner was sent to jail in the last three weeks. On Feb. 21 in Las Vegas, the day before Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder 2, Broner was charged with one count of misdemeanor trespassing.
