Look Out for Enhanced Speeding Enforcement on July 26

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies will be out in full force on July 26 as part of Speed Awareness Day.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is joining with the Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois State Police to urge motorists to stop speeding and help ensure everyone reaches their destinations safely, according to a news release.

Drivers will see increased patrols throughout Lake County in July, with a special emphasis during Speed Awareness Day on July 26, according to a news release.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office will join law enforcement agencies in six states across the Midwest on that date to raise awareness to the danger of speeding and other risky driving behaviors.

The speed enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by IDOT, according to the news release.

Chicago Police to conduct a DUI saturation patrol tonight in the Austin District

The Chicago Police has announced that they will be conducting a DUI saturation patrol in the Austin District beginning tonight Friday July 21 at 6:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.

Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists releases its annual DUI Top Cops list, with some new names making the list

Each year, the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists releases a list of the Illinois Police Officers who have made the most DUI arrests in the previous year. This year there are some new names, in part because at least two of the previous top five are currently dealing with their own legal problems.

Here is the new Top Cops who had over 100 DUI arrests in 2022:
